Hold Your Horses!

Yesterday I was coming out of the gym and I overheard a father calling for his son. “Hold Your Horses”, yelled back the boy in a defiant tone. I was stunned. What ever happened to honor? Having grown up in a home with a father who was a military officer that kind of blatant disrespect would never have flown. Where did honoring our mother and father come from? I began to do some research. Did you know it is one the 10 Commandments?  Yes, the very laws given to Moses on the stone tablets as recorded in the Holy Bible book of Exodus. #5 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. This event caused me to pause and ask myself do I still honor my father and mother? Am I exasperating my children or giving them good reason to desire to honor me?  Today I am reflecting on what it means to Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  Thank you Dad! Thank you Mom! for all you have done for me over the years of my life!
